Yazıhan

She graduated from the English-language programme at the Faculty of Medicine at Hacettepe University. She completed her specialisation in physiology at Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine, and her PhD in pathophysiology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pathophysiology. She is currently an associate professor of physiology and internal medicine-pathophysiology.
She became a professor in 2004. She has been the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Physiopathology at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine (AUTF) since 2017, as well as the Chair of the Interdisciplinary Food Metabolism and Clinical Nutrition Department at Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences since 2017. She is also a founding faculty member.
She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Ankara University Food Safety Institute.
She conducted research at the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University (Germany, 2008–2010), with support from TUBITAK and the IntenC project at various times. Her research focused on respiratory physiology and the immune system in respiratory diseases, artificial lung modelling, and hypoxia/inflammation in the lungs.
She received training in ‘Mastering Brain Chemistry’ at the Walsh Institute in the USA. She holds an international ‘Masterclass’ instructor certificate and has conducted studies in ‘Medical Simulation’ at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1 in France and ‘Medical Informatics’ at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (AAF) in Salzburg.
Prof. Dr. Yazıhan worked on mathematical modelling in complex systems at the Santa Fe Institute (USA, 2004) and has been involved as an executive and expert in Turkish Ministry of Health, United Nations (UNDP), UNICEF and World Bank projects since 2005. She has numerous national and international publications, books and reports on health economics and policies, risk/benefit analyses, cancer screening programmes and public health and preventive medicine. She was also involved in establishing the National Cancer Institute and drafting legislative proposals on ‘Tobacco and Health Effects’.
She is a member of the TÜSSIDE health focus group and the TÜBİTAK Science, Technology and Innovation Policies Board (BTYPK) Food Supply Security Working Group.
Prof. Dr. Nuray Yazıhan served as the scientific coordinator for the nasal vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 and was a member of the board of directors of the T.C. Ministry of Health TUSEB Vaccine Institute. She has served as chair of the Faculty of Medicine Research Strategies Coordination Board and the Human Research Ethics Committee (founding member), as well as being a member of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee.
She continues to work in areas such as “Personalised Medicine and Nutrition”, “Amino Acids and Peptides”, “Holistic and Functional Medicine”, “Nutrition in Exercise and Sports”, “Clinical Nutrition”, “Healthy Living”, “Women’s Health”, “Functional Foods”, and “Health Policies and Economics”, among others. Prof. Dr. Yazıhan has also delivered training on ‘Well-Aging and Exercise, Nutrition and Supplements’ at the Yükselen Çağ Wellbeing Academy.
She has over 200 scientific publications and presentations to her name. She has served as a project leader, researcher and consultant on numerous projects supported by national and international organisations.
She is a Biointegrative Breath Therapist and has completed Chopra Center Certified Meditation Training and QiGong training. Prof. Dr. Nuray Yazıhan is a member of many national and international scientific associations and is the chair of the board of directors of the Sports, Health and Performance Association (SPORD).
